HEC Launched Training Program for Teachers
Teachers now have the opportunity to apply for professional development through the work of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and USAID.
Using advanced teaching practices the program hopes to give additional training to teachers who are already working in this area. Professional development such as this, aims to further develop skills as well as knowledge. There have been special buildings found and the upgrading of several possible facilities has also been completed. There will be scholarships available for teachers to complete a PhD or Master degree as well.
The announcement was made by a consultant to the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Dr. Mahmood-ul-Hasan Butt. The emphasis is on continuing support for teachers throughout their careers as well as the opportunity to complete accredited academic programs.
Former teacher training programs will be abolished and replaced with undergraduate programs, such as the Bachelor of Education (Honours), and a shorter program called the Associate Degree in Education. It is hoped this will raise the standard of teaching and learning in the country.
