You can do it – Empowerment


Yes, really you can do it!

Empowerment is generally considered to be those feelings we have that make us feel as though we can follow and achieve our goals in life (we can do it).  We have confidence in our abilities.  There are various aspects to developing this quality, which is considered essential for us to reach our goals.  What can we do?

1. Know your own strengths and weaknesses

You can do it - 1 Know your own strengths and weaknesses

Learn what motivates you and how you respond in different situations. Make a list of these.

2. Use your Strengths

You can do it - 2 Use your Strengths

If we use our strengths we are more likely to succeed. You can work this out by noting the things that you do that make you feel good about yourself.  Another way of looking at this could be called ‘mindfulness’.

3. Turn your Weaknesses into Strength

Once you are aware of your weaknesses, you may be able to turn them into strengths. For example, if you believe you are somewhat impatient with some people, there are various training programs available to help you to become more patient.

4. Select Goals

You can do it - 4. Select Goals

What do you want from your life? Select goals that you know you can achieve and then commit yourself to them.  Always remember to celebrate each success.

5. Make Your Decisions

You can do it - 5. Make Your Decisions

Don’t be swayed by others. Decisions about your life need to be made by you.
